4th Grade – RECORDERS!!!!!!

4th Grade is moving right along in increasing their skills in reading music this year by

learning to play the soprano recorder.

Students will borrow both a gently used booklet and recorder, however—they will have to opportunity to order a new book and recorder during the first few weeks of school, so be watching for the announcement from the 4th Grade homeroom teachers.

They are learning to read and play notes and preparing music for our school performances. The recommended practice time is 15 minutes per/day, as well as an occasional at-home performance. Why not ask your child play the current song they are studying in class? Now that’s real entertainment!!!  Additional music is available for those progressing and ready for something more challenging. Just ask!

A fun and motivating way to practice can be found by looking up the various videos available on YouTube. Also, “Recorder Express” booklet,  has helpful information and lots of songs increasing in difficulty; this book is what we use in class.

It is necessary that your child bring both their recorder and instruction booklet to each class, unless otherwise notified. This effort will help the student in honing their self-management skills.  Your assistance is needed in reminding your child to remember to bring their materials to each class.

Your support is greatly appreciated! If your child were to require any additional help or if there are any questions, please feel free to contact me at jmudge@holyrosaryws.org. Thank you & here’s to a great year of music!
